DJ's Upgrading His Phone

HTC DROID INCREDIBLE Android Phone (Verizon Wireless)
Just a quick note if you were not planning on reading the entire post:

  • If you want my new number and I didn't already give it to you then please send me an email via text to glitchboy@gmail.com
  • If you need help knowing how to do that just let me know it's very simple.
  • I have a 1000 text limit and until I get a true feel for how much that is I would like you all to resist sending me small messages and anything for conversational purposes.
  • This leaves texts for quick necessary communication like "Where are you?". Even still I have way more minutes then I need. Just call me for most anything now.

I just won an auction on ebay for a slightly used HTC Droid Incredible. I'm not sure whether to make this a phone or just keep it without the contract and use it for the fun and productivity of it. Sadly this thing is better than my desktop so I'm really thinking about keeping it but I'm not sure I want to spend the $30 a month for the necessary unlimited data. I can pay for it seeing as I'm getting a job as soon as semester starts. Just not sure that's the most wise option right now seeing as my reserve isn't as high as I would like. If I activate it as my phone I am required to pay for the data. Because of all this i'm pretty sure I'm going to keep it but just use the wifi and use it as nothing more than just an iPod Touch I guess.

If I don't end up keeping it I could sell it and more than likely make a profit off of it. I bought it quite cheap. This will arrive in the mail either the 6th or the 7th and I would like to have made up my mind about it before it arrives. If I do choose to keep it I will sell my MP3 player and make a minimum of $140 which would pay for at least half of it. I would also go find a basic phone.

Cell Phone, Samsung Intensity in Flamingo Red
My old Samsung Intensity
Samsung Intensity II SCH-U460 Phone, Metallic Blue (Verizon Wireless)
My parents' new Samsung Intensity 2
Anyone wanting my new number will have to ask. I do already have it. I'm currently using my mother's new phone until I decide what mine will be. I may just go with the same phones as my parents' new ones. It's the upgrade from my old one.

Also, does anyone know for certain you can even use the Droids without a contract? I hear from rumors that the phone constantly checks to make sure it's activated in order to even do the basic stuff. Comment on here to let me know what your thoughts are and if you know the answer to my question.

  1. Pretty sure as long as you have a wireless/hotspot connect you don't need the 3g data plan or any plan.

  3. The I 2's suck. Im really not too impressed with this phone. We cant do much unless we pay for the data... It is also a pain to call out on.
